Forest & Bird is an active voice in the Manawatu-Whanganui protection of our rivers and wetlands, such as Manawatu River and Estuary, in particular protecting them from impacts of agriculture and pollution.
Manawatu Branch’s monthly public meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Palmerston North City Library, Sound & Vision Zone, George Street, Palmerston North at 7,30 p.m. All are welcome - gold coin donation welcome
Forest & Bird also manages projects at a number of reserves around the region, including Bushy Park near Whanganui. The reserve is fitted with a predator-proof fence in which native species including hihi, tieke and North Island robins thrive safe from predation by introduced pests. Visitors are welcome. In the Rangitikei region, members manage five more Forest and Bird reserves.
